From its inception, Euclid Discoveries has rigorously protected its ownership of the technology it has created, and the business applications to which the technology can be applied. Recognizing the importance of valid and legally defensible ownership of the technology and its applications, the company engaged and continues to utilize the patent protection expertise of leading outside counsel and advisors in the area of patent prosecution and litigation.
CRA (formerly called Charles River & Associates) assisted Euclid in developing our patent strategy. CRA was instrumental in helping to define the steps and timing of Euclid’s patent filings, and in providing advice on the appropriate level of international patent protection.
Silicon Valley Patent Group was Euclid’s original patent advisor providing counsel and support to ensure the company has fully protected its ownership rights, both through the patent process and through its agreements with technology contractors.
Hamilton, Brook, Smith and Reynolds (HBSR) is Euclid’s patent prosecution and filing firm. Mary Lou Wakimura, a partner at HBSR, is Euclid’s lead attorney for all patent filings. Ms. Wakimura is both an attorney and a software engineer with experience in numerous programming languages, data analyses and software applications. Since joining the firm in 1985, she has prepared and prosecuted computer and related technology patent applications as well as imaging, medical systems, bioinformatics and electro-mechanical patent applications, with or without a software component. Ms. Wakimura has also prepared infringement opinions directed to computer and software technologies. Her technical background and success in patent protection, including the Viola Jones patent for fast face recognition, makes her ideally suited to represent Euclid in its patent process.
Kenyon & Kenyon acts as the company’s advisor on patent litigation and provides strategic guidance and counsel to ensure that Euclid is well positioned to defend any infringements on its patent protected technology and on business applications of the technology.
