Euclid Discoveries was founded in 1999, and in its early stages, was focused on creating a video phone for the consumer market that would provide acceptable video quality over traditional telephone lines.
The group realized that limitations in video compression and delivery across constrained bandwidth networks were the two largest barriers to a successful video phone offering. The company decided that tackling the video compression problem was a more important objective than creating a new hardware device and refocused the company’s direction toward video compression technology research and development.
Since 2003, Euclid Discoveries has been an active member of the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS) and the MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF). Participation in these organizations provides the company with valuable insight into technology developments and trends in video compression.
Euclid Discoveries is dedicated to technology development. Rather than productizing or commercializing our technology directly, we look to the leading providers in the market to take advantage of our technological advancements.
The company’s two greatest resources are its technical team and its portfolio of Intellectual Property that the team has developed.
Euclid’s technical team is composed of researchers, software developers, engineers and mathematicians, as well as consulting experts in the fields of video processing, pattern recognition, computer vision and mathematics.
